Lloyd and Mike welcome you to the Quay where we hope to deliver a true gate to plate experience. Whether it is sourcing grass fed Angus or Hereford prime from local Northland farmers or fresh oysters direct from Paihia we try to ensure what we provide is grown right on our doorstep. Through our very own Vege shack located on the rich volcanic soils of Maungakaramea we sustainably grow most of the vegetables you will enjoy when dining with us at The Quay.
Owners Lloyd Rooney and Mike Fraser have grown from a single restaurant, The Cove in Waipu Cove, and their beef and sheep farm, Highgate Hill in the Waikato to now include The Quay in Whangarei, The Dune in Mangawhai and Number 8 Whangarei. The farming venture also include our market garden, The Vege Shack, in Maungakaramea which we supply all our Northland restaurants with fresh seasonal produce.
The Great Highgate Trading Company Ltd was formed to manage the restaurant and farming ventures of Lloyd Rooney and Mike Fraser.
